H.L. R. is Henry Lee Richardson (1873-1942). He was the brother-in-law to Hattie Richardson (brother to her husband Daniel Thomas Richardson).  H.L.R.'s reference to Alma is a reference to his wife Alma Barbour.  HLR seems to be traveling but the details beyond that are no known.

This card has no postmark, but would have been written prior to 1913.  Jan/Feb 1913 is the time period newly widowed Hattie Richardson and her children moved to News Ferry , Va.

This letter is another sent to Cordelia Aherron while she was visiting her first cousin, Esther. Ila is Cordie's sister.  Ila asked about Uncle Daniel [Daniel Richardson] unaware that he died the day she mailed the postcard. I'm not sure who Daisy is.  She could actually be a farm animal based on the newsy way Ila tells of her drowning in a shaft.  Pop is Thomas Aherron, Cordie's father.  Atwood is likely Atwood Gosney, first cousin to both Cordie and Esther.

Mrs Daniel Richardson was Hattie Elliott Richardson and mother of Esther. Mrs L. P. Hagood  was Lena Hagood (1898-1967) of Danville, Va.  Lena would actually have been the age/generation of Esther. This makes me question if I have the correct woman. I do not know the identity of Lizzie. Interestingly, the letter is postmarked the day of Hattie's husband's death.

Cordelia Aherron (b. 1895) was Esther's first cousin and the daughter of Lucy Richardson and Thomas Aherron.  By all accounts, they were very close. Cordelia (Cordie) appears to have been visiting with her cousins.  Edgar seems to have been an ardent admirer of Cordie's.  I am unsure of his surnamen.  Ila was Ila Aherron, Cordie's sister.  Hattie was most likely Hattie Yeaman, also a first cousin to Esther.

Cordelia was staying with Esther's family that November.  Esther's father D.T. Richardson died 18 Nov 1912.  Indications from previous correspondence shows that he had been ill at least for several months.  Perhaps Cordelia was visiting to console her cousin or assist the family is some way.

Charlie Giles was the son of Columbus and Virginia Giles.  In the 1900 census the Giles family is listed on the same page as H. L. Richardson, D.T. Richardson's brother.  I am unclear of the "cousin" relationship between Charlie Giles and Esther. Nannie is likely Nannie Lee Farson - Esther's best friend and mutual friend to Charlie and Esther.

The writer of this postcard is not definitely known. It is simply signed Elliott.  Based on the postmark and the handwriting the writer was likely William F Elliott, Esther's first cousin and son of CR Elliott.  The D.T. referred to is Daniel Thomas Richardson, Esther's father.
